Blog: It’s All About St Vincent & The Grenadines
Tue, July 3rd
This month we’re looking at the stunning island of St Vincent and The Grenadines. In particular, Young Island - a gorgeous private island only minutes away from St Vincent. And not forgetting Bequia Island – full of Caribbean charm on a sought-after hideaway island.
The Grenadines itself consists of thirty magnificent islands and cays, not to mention the striking coral reefs and clear waters. Although home to a small population, the islands thrive with West Indian culture, diversity and fascinating experiences.
Interestingly, St Vincent was a temporary home to Hollywood stars (Jonny Depp, Geoffrey Rush, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley) during the filming of the first three Walt Disney films ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’. Here they experienced the treasures of St Vincent by exploring the 18thcentury architecture and vibrant street markets in Kingstown, as well as visiting one of the oldest botanical gardens in the western hemisphere, founded in 1765.
Essential Hotel Collection features the crème da la crème of luxury Caribbean boutique hotels, and naturally we have selected the finest hotels for you in St Vincent and The Grenadines: The Bequia Beach Hotel on Bequia and Young Island, St Vincent.
Bequia Beach Hotel is situated in the premier location of Bequia - Friendship beach. This exquisite hotel provides a relaxing and friendly atmosphere, with modern chic rooms and suites including a penthouse with striking oceanfront views and a rooftop Jacuzzi. Fresh lobster and locally sourced ingredients is on offer at the beachfront Bagatelle restaurant. Bequia Beach Hotel is simply gorgeous!
Young Island has astonishing natural beauty and a tranquil atmosphere. Around 150 years ago, the Caribs traded the island for a stallion owned by Governor Young, hence the name ‘Young’ Island. Since then, the island has been developed into an exquisite resort. The resort offers a number of packages that appeal to everyone. Have a look at the fabulous 'Sailaway' package, sailing around the Grenadines, including the islands of Bequia and Mustique.
If you want to experience the real Caribbean, relax and get away from it all, St Vincent and The Grenadines is the place to visit.
